Anita Patricia Pryor

March 17, 1937 - May 8, 2024

Anita Patricia (Hiponia) Pryor, 87, of Poolesville, MD, formerly of Ocean View, DE, passed away on May 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 17, 1937, in Annapolis, MD, she was the cherished daughter of the late Salvador and Violet (Francisco) Hiponia.

Anita was the epitome of warmth and joy, her presence akin to a gentle breeze on a summer's day. She reveled in the simple pleasures of life, whether strolling along the sandy shores of the beach or trying her luck at the casino, but nothing brought her greater happiness than being surrounded by her beloved family.

She was the devoted wife to the late Harvey Pryor and is survived by her three adoring sons: Tom (Kathy) Pryor of Wilmington, NC, John (Robin) Pryor of Mount Airy, MD, Rick (Donna) Pryor of Centreville, VA, and her loving daughter, Michelle (Jody) Pearre of Poolesville, MD. Anita's legacy of love extends to her three sisters, Dolores Sheckells, Maria Pettit, Verna Radcliffe, and her brother, Joseph Hiponia. Her spirit lives on through her seven grandchildren: Melanie, Lauren, Joey, Sydney, Hunter, Brady, and Luke, as well as her three great-grandchildren: Madison, Brooks, and Jayden.

The family will be receiving friends on June 15th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Rd, Barnesville MD. Interment will take place at a later date with immediate family. Following the visitation, the family invites guests to join them for a celebration of Anita’s life at The Crossvines, 16601 W. Williard Rd, Poolesville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Anita to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to her heart. Anita's kindness, laughter, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

My heartfelt condolences to all of your family you're not here physically Anita, but you will always be here with the love and memories your family and friends had with, and for you.

Sending love & hugs to all my Pryor family cousins. Your mom (my aunt & Godmother) has always had a special place in my heart and will forever. We are never ready to let our loved ones go, but she is resting in peace now with no more pain, being in heaven with Uncle Bud and all the family & friends that have gone before her. May that be a comfort to all the family. We will miss her but she will live on in our hearts & minds. Thank you for taking such good care of your Mom. We are here for you so never hesitate to reach out. With love, Terrie & John & Family

I was lucky enough to know Anita for several years now. One of many memories I have of Anita is one time during a girl's weekend in Poolesville. We were playing a drinking game and Anita didn't want to drink anymore so I drank the shots for her without anyone knowing. We shared giggling glances every time it was her turn. Anita was a gentle soul with a heart of gold and full of love and grace. Harvey has been waiting for you. God bless you both. Look forward to seeing you one day...not soon though.

Our deepest condolences to your family.
