Franklin Eugene Poole, 89, of Poolesville, MD, passed away on September 18, 2024.
Born on September 7, 1935 in Poolesville, Maryland, he was the son to the late Raymond “Happy” Benjamin Poole and Claudia Katie Ellen Johnson.
Franklin lived his entire life in Poolesville: on the Trundle Farm, the Andrew Farm and then in his current residence. He loved farming, hunting, gardening, and once retired telling stories of how things used to be. Franklin was a good historian of the happenings in Poolesville but mostly enjoyed the visits of his family and his trips into Poolesville and down to the Chesapeake Bay and Virginia to visit his sisters and their family.
Franklin was survived by numerous devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters; Bettie R Powell and Rachel R. Porter; and niece Barbara Melvich.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 27th at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, MD. Interment to follow at Monocacy Cemetery, 19801 West Hunter Road, Beallsville, MD.

What a charming man. I always loved when he would pull over while I was walking down Westerly. He would always smile and have something funny to share. I will miss not seeing his little white truck coming down the road. He will be missed.

I have many memories of Frank. When I was a child he could often be seen planting corn or mowing field edges on the Andrews farm next door. I saw many pictures in my grandmother's photo album of Frank cutting down trees or working around the farm. He kept a meticulous yard and had an old beagle that barked a lot. In his later years he would often drive through the farm just to check to see what was going on, or keep us posted on some local news or animal sighting. Frank was definitely a fixture in the community, and very knowledgeable about local history. My condolence to the family on Frank's passing. He will be missed.
