OBITUARY

George E. Lees Jr., 89, of Germantown, MD, passed away on June 13, 2022 after a valiant fight with lung cancer.

Born on August 31, 1932 in Shamokin, PA, he was the son to the late George Sr. and Marjorie Lees.

George was the loving husband to the late Ruth Lees and survived by his son Brian Lees and daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Chip Fatzie.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Jane Trail, his two nieces Linda Anderson (husband Kenny), Donna Clark (husband Joe), one nephew, Doug Trail and his cousin and wife, Ralph and Connie Renn along with his close friends and their families: Al Herr, Gene Garancheski, Martin Regalia, and Don Kanaski.

George served in the Army in the Korean War in charge of a tank crew in his younger years. He used the GI bill to pursue a career as a technical illustrator and worked for over 25 years for Fairchild Industries in the Graphics department.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and during one hunting trip in Pennsylvania with friends, found his dream property to hunt, fish and farm. He spent most of his retirement working on “projects” to improve the farm, like building a shed, a bigger shed, large garage, a pond and a couple of picnic pavilions. All this was needed to host many Fourth of July picnics. He always loved sitting on the back porch and watching the wildlife and planning his next project.

We thank all of his farm friends the Rudge's, Able’s and Valentine’s for all the help and support over the years and most recently as his health declined. You are truly more than friends – you became family.

At George’s request, no services will be held and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
