Harriett Janet Kenly, 87, of Maryland, passed away on November 3, 2023.
Born June 23, 1936, in Flora Illinois, she was the daughter of Harry Thomas and Martha Carmen (Jacobs) Hilton.
Harriett is survived by her children, Debra VanGilder and husband Daniel, Cheryl Kenly and late husband Phillip Giarth, Stephen Kenly and wife Cathy, seven grandchildren; Brian, Melissa, Jennifer, Emily, Cody, Connor, Carley, six great-grandchildren; Ristynn, Nicolas, Brantley, Liam, Corbin, Renee and nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, of 65 years, Richard Martin Kenly, her sister Dell Marie (Hilton) Phillips.
Harriett was a member of the Gaithersburg Church of the Nazarene and worked as a Quality Food Control Assistant in the Montgomery County School System.
A Memorial service will be held at the Hilton Funeral Home, in Barnesville, MD, on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Harriett’s final resting place will be with her late husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.

We spent most of our childhood living close to each other. We were cousins but also friends. It is sad and will miss Janet.
