James (“Jim”) Edwin Baur, 92, of Poolesville, MD passed away on November 24, 2024. Born on December 18, 1931 in Washington, DC he will be remembered as a man of strong faith as well as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Jim attended Calvin Coolidge high school in Washington, DC, and then served in the US Army for four years. Upon completing his service, he took a job as a lineman with C&P Telephone Company. This began a career with the company that spanned nearly 40 years and it was there that he met the love of his life, Alice, to whom he was married for 56 years.
After his retirement Jim remained an active member in his church, and cherished spending time with his family. He also played competitive softball well into his 70’s and developed lasting friendships with many of his teammates.
Jim was preceded in death by his father George, mother Elizabeth, brothers George, Frank, Jack and Robert (“Bob”), and sisters Elizabeth and Mary.
Along with his beloved wife Alice, Jim is survived by his four children; Linda Bochenski (Danny), Joe Baur (Shain), Karen Wathen, Laura Baur; six grandchildren; Eric, Collin, Devin, Kira, Corinne, Ean; and one great grandchild; Theo.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 17230 Tom Fox Avenue, Poolesville, MD. A Catholic mass will follow at the church on November 30, 2024, at 11:00am.
