Mary Joann (Jodie) Schwam, 79, beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and quilter extraordinaire, passed away on September 17, 2023.
Jodie is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-six years Stephen; her seven children: Jennifer (Jim); Elizabeth; Matthew; Susanne (Tom); Michael (Erin); Bryan (Aimee); and Stephanie; her sister Lois; and her many adored grandkids and great grandkids.
The family will be receiving friends at Mother Seton Catholic Church 19951 Father Hurley Blvd. Germantown MD 20874 on Tuesday, September 26 at 10 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Mass will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall and all are welcome.
Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Jodie’s memory to Mother Seton Catholic Church (mothersetonparish.org) or to The Humane Rescue Alliance (www.humanerescuealliance.org)

I met Jodie through the Mother Seton Quilting Angels, and the bond was sufficient so that after I moved to California, her home was offered when I returned to MD for a company meeting, and she managed to visit my home twice with her family. She was also into music and had me quilt musical notes on one of her quilts.
