Bobby Frank Leonard

Bobby Frank Leonard, born on November 22, 1932 in Lexington, NC passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at the age of 93.

He was the loving husband of Mary Louise Leonard (Becky). They were college sweethearts at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC and were married on January 3, 1953. Bob was the son of the late Tice Nicholas Leonard and Daisy Lee Reid (Leonard).

He is survived by their three children, Pamela (Pam) Leonard, Paige Drake & Dave, and Garrett (Garry) Leonard, seven grandchildren, Brooks Wunder & Laura, Jessica Rappoport, Michael Burtnett, Grant Wunder & Hannah, Chase Wunder, Kerry Leonard, Brendan Leonard and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by their son, Bobby Leonard II. Additionally, preceding him in death were Bob’s brothers, XL Leonard, Edward Leonard, Nicholas Leonard, Calvin Leonard, Donald Leonard, Rabb Leonard, Reid Leonard and sisters, Lyndol Leonard Head and Patsy Leonard Woodruff.
He will be forever cherished as Bob, Dad, Grandad, and Uncle Bob. 

Bob was fortunate to have spent time with his three great grandchildren, Caleb Rappoport, Emma Wunder, and Holden Wunder.

Bob is remembered as being a devoted family man who enjoyed watching his children grow and become successful. He was also a deeply religious man, praying nightly at his bedside, committed to his church and always faithful to his beliefs.

Bob served his country in the United States Army assigned as an intelligence officer in Okinawa near the end of the Korean conflict. Upon his return from military service, Bob began working for Martin Marietta eventually rising to the position of Vice President of Human Resources. While he was working for Martin Marietta, Bob attended night school at the University of Maryland where he obtained his law degree. Bob and Becky enjoyed traveling, seeing the world and experiencing other cultures. Once Bob retired, he relished long walks along the beach and improving his golf game. However, Bob’s favorite activity soon became playing tennis where he excelled. Bob, our beloved husband, dad, granddad, uncle, co-worker and friend was loved by many and will be missed by all of those who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 17th from 11:00 AM - 12 Noon at Darnestown Presbyterian Church, 15120 Turkey Foot Road, Darnestown MD where the service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to welcome everyone back to the church for a light reception afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Darnestown Presbyterian Church.
