On Saturday May 11, 2024, Rose Cardenas, age 71, loving mother to James Cardenas, a PHS graduate Class of 2007 passed away unexpectedly at her home in Germantown.

Miss Rose was loved by thousands of children and their parents during her tenure as the Director of the Bar-T before and after school program at Poolesville Elementary, where she served for more than 15 years. After retiring to Naples, Florida, she returned to the area three years ago to be closer to her beloved son James and his wife Shayna. She continued her passion for Bar-T at Ronald E. McNair Elementary in Germantown, MD.

Known for her generosity, sense of humor, and impeccable style, she had a flair for creating beautiful, fashionable items with her own hands. Her boundless energy and optimism touched everyone around her, leaving many friends and family broken-hearted. Her beautiful smile, vivacious laugh, and physical beauty will be remembered and missed forever.

A private family cremation will be done and a celebration will be held on Tuesday, May 21st, from 3-5pm at Seneca Polo Club, 20760 Whites Ferry Rd, Poolesville. All friends welcome. (Bring a dish if you wish).

Please leave any condolences and personal recollections of our unforgettable Poolesville treasure, Rose Marie, below.

I meet Ms. Rose at bar-t two years ago. She was one of the funniest and nicest people I have ever met. My prayers go out her family, friends, coworkers, her students, and everyone else who had the honor to know Rose.

To know Rose was to know joy. She never took herself seriously and could make any situation pure enjoyment. I cherished all the time I had working with Rose and spent visiting her over the past few years. She was like family to me and my family, we will miss her so much. Our deepest sympathy goes to James, Shayna and family.
