Charles E. Glass

November 4, 1938 - November 1, 2026

Charles Edward Glass, 87, of Poolesville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 1st, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 4th, 1938, in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of the late Denver and Dorsie Glass. On January 27, 1957, he married the love of his life, Doris Wilson Beall, with whom he shared a devoted and lifelong partnership.

Charles was a dedicated and active pillar of his community. His civic involvement and career spanned many decades and organizations, including the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department, serving as a Town Commissioner of Poolesville, and working as the plumbing inspector for the town. He was also a successful local business owner, running the Poolesville Mobil and Poolesville Towing, and was an active member of the Monocacy Lions Club and the Odd Fellows.

Outside of his work and service, Charles lived a vibrant life full of passions. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan, loved spending his time fishing and crabbing on Kent Island, enjoyed golfing and dancing, and cherished every moment spent surrounded by his family. Known for his warm and friendly spirit, he loved taking a walk every day and waving at every passing car.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Sandy (Jon) Chisholm and Lynne (Tad) Bodmer; his cherished granddaughters, Kelli Vaughan, Jennifer (Andrew) Karolick, Dr. Jocelyn (Jesse) Bodmer-Krasner, and Mollie (Sean Krum) Bodmer; his adored great-grandchildren, Aiden and Addison Karolick, Hailey Krum, and Colton Krasner; and special friend, Grace Sheppard.

A viewing will be held at Hilton Funeral Home in Barnesville, Maryland, on November 5th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will take place on November 6th at 11:00 AM at the Poolesville Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Poolesville Methodist Church or the Upper Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department.

My deepest condolences to your entire family in this time of grieving. Charlie was always upbeat and had a funny story to tell when he'd often stop by my family's office on his walks. He was a good friend and neighbor to my family for many years. He will be missed.
