With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Cherrie Collins who went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2026 at the age of 70.
Cherrie was a devoted woman of faith whose life reflected her unwavering love for Jesus Christ. She lived with strength, grace, and compassion, touching the lives of all who knew her. Her faith was her foundation, guiding her through both joyful and challenging times, and serving as a light to her family and community.
She was a loving wife, mother, and nana. She was also a faithful friend, a dynamite hugger, and a source of wisdom and encouragement. Her home was a place of warmth, prayer, and unconditional love. She found joy in serving at church, cheering on her grandchildren, being with her family poolside, and praying for others. She never missed an opportunity to share her faith or give an encouraging hug.
Cherrie Collins is survived by her beloved husband, Ron Collins of almost 50 years, her children, Steven Collins (Candice), Amanda O’Connor (Sean), Andrew Collins (Dana), Kellie Collins; and her beautiful grandchildren Callan, Hadley, Jaxon, Keegan, Kinsley, Kennedy, Cole, Evelyn, Reagan, Reid, CK, Nathan, Dean, and Hayes.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, strength, and love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of her life will be held at Church of the Redeemer, 19425 Woodfield Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20879 on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Cherrie was my parents’ neighbor and someone I grew up knowing. She was such a wonderful person always taking the time to say hi to everyone and making people feel welcome. She was especially kind to my children, always inviting them over to swim in her pool. I remember seeing her at Target when she was sick, and even then she was still so bright and full of happiness. She truly had a special light about her, and she will always be a part of some really special childhood memories for me.

My sympathy to the bereaved Collin’s family
My heart felt of sorrow by passing of a prayerful friend cheerful and caring mom grandma and a hugger greeters. I couldn’t imagine even she was in pain resting or just trying to relax. Still she think of a friend somewhere half of the world and saying I will pray for your journey! My last pick was her last text it’s seem saying goodbye to me, and asked when I will be back.. hurry see me .. your last glance! And because she will be sleeping soon .. she was tired! My heart was full of sadness and as well relief that she went to see the Lord already and no more pain and sleepless nights. I’m sure she will
Be missed .. Rest in Peace now my lovely Cherrie! I’m coming back home now.. still I need your prayer to this journey will see in the next life of eternity .. stay cheerful..

My prayers are with your family at this sad time. Cherrie was a bright light that shined on everyone she met. I remember fondly the fun times we had together many years ago. Her smile and laugh I will never forget. Rest in peace dear sweet Cherrie. I know you are with Jesus and heaven has another angel added to the choirs.

Cherrie was a beautiful and spiritual woman. I know she is in heaven with Jesus. I rejoice that she is with Him but I will miss her so much.
We co-taught for many years and were friends for many more. I will miss her smiles, hugs and joy.We laughed, sang and danced with “our” children in school. We talked and texted and saw each other every summer. I will never forget her and I already miss her deeply. Prayers and love for, Ron, family and friends.
