
David Owen Scott Sr. (“Bossman”), 85, of Dickerson, MD passed away peacefully at his home on July 12, 2026.

David was the devoted husband of Judith Scott for 63 wonderful years.
​
Born April 21, 1941, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Owen and Margarete Scott.
​
David graduated from Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire, and attended Gettysburg College for one year before returning home to devote himself full-time to farming. For 66 years, he was the proud steward of Oak Ridge Farm. He also served for 10 years as a member of the Montgomery County Agricultural Preservation Board. In recognition of his commitment to preserving Montgomery County's agricultural heritage, David received the 2017 Royce Hanson Award from the Montgomery Countryside Alliance.

David was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan and proudly held season tickets at RFK Stadium for 20 years. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially cheering for the #3 car, Dale Earnhardt Sr. David will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and deep love for his family and the farm he called home.

Along with his wife, Judith, David is survived by his children, David Jr. (Kim), Deborah, and Christopher (Jakie); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kara, Cassie, Ally, and Bella; and his great-grandchildren, Emmie, Hallie, and Lillie.

A celebration of David’s life will be announced at a later date.
