Donald D. Farr

April 25, 1951 - June 26, 2026

In Loving Memory of Donald D. Farr

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald D. Farr, more commonly known in the fire service as "DD".

Born on April 25, 1951 in Washington, D.C. to the late Ralph D. and Nancy J. (Christie) Farr, Don was 75 when he passed away in his home on June 26, 2026. He shared his life and love with Sherri K. Farr, his devoted spouse of 41 years.

Growing up in Wheaton, MD, Don graduated from Albert Einstein high school where he played as a Forward and Center for the school's basketball team. He found further enjoyment in tennis, chess, woodworking and model trains. His love of fire trucks led to him becoming a Cadet Firefighter with the Kensington VFD then later establishing a career as a Montgomery County Firefighter. Once retired, Don used his degree in Printing Technology to serve the community through his home-based distribution business, "D&S Treasure Chest".

In addition to being a loving husband and supportive father, Don was also a cherished "Dandad" to his two granddaughters. While he enjoyed building furniture and tending to his yard/garden, his greatest joy was in his role as a provider, protector and mentor to his family. Whether it was a home cooked meal, holiday celebration, or cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, Don cherished quality time with his family and rescue pets most of all.

Those who knew Don will remember his kindhearted nature, compassionate heart and remarkable sense of humor. He had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome, appreciated, and important. Whether through a warm smile, a thoughtful gesture, or a perfectly timed joke, he had an incredible ability to brighten even the hardest days.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the countless memories and life lessons that he leaves behind. His legacy is one of compassion, service, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Along with his wife Sherri, Don is survived by his two daughters; Karen Monroe Conway (Mike) and Kimberly Cochran (Roger), 2 grandchildren; Kayla Brody and Brooke Cochran and one sister; Patricia Ogg (Gene).

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, July 7th from 5 PM – 7PM at Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville, MD. They will also receive friends on Wednesday, July 8th  from 10 AM – 11 AM where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Monocacy Cemetery, 19801 West Hunter Road, Beallsville, MD.
