Jay David Popovic, 47, of Frederick, MD, passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2025. He was born on April 23, 1978, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Martha and Neven Popovic.
Jay was a devoted son, a loving brother, and a thoughtful uncle. He is survived by his mother, Martha Popovic of Darnestown, MD, his brother Scott Popovic (Astrid Pallme) of New Port Richey, FL, his sister Ann Malone (Greg) of South Windsor, CT, his sister Tracy Uhlig (Andy) of Mount Airy, MD, and seven nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Quince Orchard High School and the University of Maryland. He was a CPA and worked as a tax accountant for most of his career.
Jay was a man of few words, with a dry wit, and who lived life on his own terms. He was a fan of Washington sports teams and taught his nieces and nephews the proper techniques of good-natured trash talk. He will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 1st at 1:30pm at Darnestown Presbyterian Church, 15120 Turkey Foot Road, Darnestown, MD. Visitation with family will begin 30 minutes before the service.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. I worked with Jay for 12 years or so. He was a hard worker, did great work and was very dependable and committed to the projects he was responsible for. Moreover, we had many good laughs together in the process. Jay was easy going, easy to talk to and well respected by all of us who had the pleasure of working with him. I’m very saddened by his passing and will always hold fond memories of him. RIP brother Jay.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son, brother and uncle Jay. I worked with Jay for many years in the Frederick Maryland office of RSM and then again in our Gaithersburg office. Jay was a hard worker who kept to himself but was well liked by anyone who met him. We will miss Jay and my dearest condolences to the family!
