Margaret Ann Fiore

January 22, 1941 - October 3, 2025

Margaret Ann Fiore, 84, of Damascus, Maryland, passed away on October 3, 2025.

Born on January 22, 1941, in New York, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Lawrence and Raffaela (Agnese) Fiore.

Margaret is survived by her brother Anthony Fiore, sister; Nancy Cassaro and nieces and nephews; Nancy Cassaro, Donna Hughes, Antoinette Cassaro, Joseph Cappitelli, Peter Cappitelli, Michelle Bradley, Gregory Fiore and Rachelle Fiore.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by one sister; Josephine Cappitelli.

Devoted to her faith and the strong desire to help others, she entered the convent upon graduating high school, to then start nursing school at the age of 23. Building a career that spanned across 7 decades, Margaret was a pioneer in the field of neurological nursing, becoming one of the first neurological nurse practitioners in the country. She was dedicated to serving our Lord as she helped countless people throughout her life. The impact she had within the Catholic Church, the field of medicine, and among those she cared for will be felt for generations to come. Among the many areas included in her legacy, one of the biggest sentiments that she passes on to us is her belief that ‘The Hand of God’ is guiding and protecting us all, always working for the greater good.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian burial beginning at 11:00 a.m., Saint Paul Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Rd, Damascus, MD 20872. The family welcomes all to join them following mass for a reception.

From:   Linda Mazzochi

I am sorry for her family and friends’ loss of Margaret. I knew her from St. Stephen’s Church. After the 12:10 daily Mass, Margaret walked with purpose down Pennsylvania Ave to return to her work at George Washington Hospital. Sometimes I would have an opportunity to talk with her briefly as we walked together. May GOD bless her soul. with love and prayers, Linda
