Mary W. Daniel

 January 16, 1926 - February 17, 2026

Mary W. Daniel, 100, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away peacefully at the Wilson Health Care Center at Asbury Methodist Village, on February 17, 2026, following a lifetime of service to others as a nurse, dear friend and caretaker.

 

She was the loving wife of the late Mansfield W. Daniel and Dr. Leland Hine. Born on January 16, 1926, in Laytonsville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Howard Riggs and Harry Griffith White. She is survived by her children; Susan Daniel (Matt Barrett) of Leland NC, Jean Daniel of Washington DC, and Richard Daniel of Silver Spring MD. Survivors also include grandchildren Liza Stehman of Vienna VA, Sara Taylor of Leland NC, and Lawnie Taylor, Jr. (Marilee) of Loveland OH. Her great grandchildren are Liliana and Cameryn Stehman of Vienna VA and Alton, Ellis and Rowan Taylor of Loveland OH. Her siblings Harry Jr. and Richard T. White, Margeret Riggs, Alverda Wotthlie, and Anne King preceded her in death. 

 

A celebration of life and reception will be held at Asbury Methodist Village Guild Chapel, 201 Russell Avenue, Gaithersburg MD on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Private burial at Monocacy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a memorial at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 387, Poolesville MD 20837 or Asbury Methodist Benevolent Fund, 201 Russell Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD  20877, or to a charity of your choice. Mary was especially fond of charities that focused on combating domestic hunger and dealt with eradicating disease and injustice worldwide.
