Mary Lucile Puckett Moyer

 MOYER, Mary Lucile Puckett Moyer, 80, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Gaithersburg MD on November 21, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents Mary Jane Gott Puckett and Paul Brooks Puckett Sr, and Uncle Eugene Cissel Gott, III. Mary Lu was valedictorian of her high school class, a member of Pi Beta Phi at Oklahoma University and graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Microbiology in 1968.  She worked for 35 years as a Laboratory Technician for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington D.C. and served as a town commissioner of Poolesville Maryland for eight years in the 1980s where she played a large roll in updating the towns infrastructure.

Mary Lu, is survived by her Aunt Carolyn DuPont of Richmond VA, siblings Jane (Ray) Vanderhook of Shepherdstown WV, Brooks (Meribeth) Puckett of Purcellville, VA, and Nancy (Stan) Puckett-Dunn of Travelers Rest SC and children Andrew Scott Moyer (Elissa Barnes) of Lovettsville VA, Amanda Kathleen Moyer Gabriel (Mark Gabriel) of Charleston SC, Jennifer Lynn Moyer (Peter Swindler) of Gaithersburg MD, and Lindsey DeWeese Moyer (Chad Crowder) of Frederick MD. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Grady, Coralynn “Cora”, Vaughn and Isabella “Izzy” who lovingly knew her as “Yoyo”.

Mary Lu is remembered for her humor, sense of justice, storytelling, volunteerism, and bridge-playing prowess. 
 

Services will be held at Hilton Funeral Home on December 13th, 2025, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a veteran cause or your local soup kitchen.
