Norman Edward Mease, 89, of Boyds, MD passed peacefully on the family farm on 22 August 2026. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and community member.
Norman graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and retired from National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 1992.
He had great appreciation for his farm and community. He and his family raised black angus cattle, chickens, hay, and a large vegetable garden. He completely built the wood-heated family farmhouse himself. Throughout his life he promoted conservation and was a board member of Friends of Ten Mile Creek. As a community leader, he was involved in authoring an early version of the Clarksburg Master Plan. He completed the headstone refurbishment and relocation of the Clark Family cemetery in Clarksburg, Maryland.
Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, and oldest son, Michael. His children, Mary and William, and granddaughters, Rachel and Olivia, will remember Norman as an honorable, giving, and loving man.
A celebration of life will be held 11am-2pm October 3rd at the farm.
