Ryan Day, 46, passed away on Monday, September 7, in Westminster, Maryland.

Ryan was a big presence wherever he went, and his larger-than-life personality was impossible to miss. Ryan had an incredible sense of humor and a gift for making everyone around him laugh. His laughter and ability to bring joy to others will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ryan was loved by many and will be remembered for his kind heart, compassion, generosity, and unforgettable sense of humor.

A hard worker and dedicated servant, Ryan devoted himself to helping those in need and those who were struggling. This was especially true of Ryan’s time attending the Westminster Rescue Mission and later serving in various roles in the organization. As a part of this nonprofit Christian community, Ryan worked with the mission to provide clinical, physical, and spiritual resources to heal the addicted and feed the hungry. He had a genuine concern for others and a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, valued, and cared for. His kindness touched many lives, and his willingness to help others was a reflection of the compassion he carried with him throughout his life.

Of all the things that mattered to Ryan, nothing meant more to him than his daughters. He was a devoted father to Margaret (Maggie) Day, 16, and Eleanor (Ella) Day, 10. He was immensely proud of both girls and their many talents, and he cherished every opportunity to watch them do what they loved. He could often be found cheering them on at the soccer field or proudly watching them compete in the pool. Their accomplishments brought him tremendous joy, and being there to support Maggie and Ella was one of the greatest pleasures of his life. He was their biggest fan, and his love and pride for them were unmistakable.

Ryan is also survived by his former wife, Molly Day; his mother, Rebecca Barefoot Day; and his sister, Kelly Urgo, and brother-in-law, Brian Urgo. He was a loving uncle to Kelly and Brian’s children, Colleen, 16, Brendan, 13, and Erin Claire, 12. He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Day.

Ryan leaves behind a legacy of compassion, hard work, generosity, laughter, and love. His life made a difference to many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his daughters, family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. The stories, laughter, and memories he gave to those around him will be treasured for years to come. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
